The mission of this
website is to be a general resource for sport in
Canada. This site will provide a national voice in
seeking solutions for the systemic problems that
have prevented sport and it's leadership from using
fairness, integrity, open communication and mutual
respect while serving in positions of
decision-making.
Many of the people
supporting this website have experienced
first-hand, the results of im proper
administration and policies in a variety of sports
in Canada. We believe that sport encompasses
physical activity, physical education and healthy
lifestyle choices. We hope to help educate and
advocate the benefits of sport to decision-makers
and the general public.
It is interesting
to note the recent shift in Canadian high
performance sport from an administration focus to
an athlete-centered focus. Sport is changing and
the administration of sport is becoming more
accountable to the needs of the sport and the
athletes. Thankfully, critical review and strategic
revisioning is starting within the committee
structure of most progressive sports
organizations.
This website will
not attempt to replace the excellent directories
and links to services currently maintained by the
federal government and by commercial groups.
Rather, we have included links to and short reviews
about the services currently available.
At times, we may draw
attention to specific organizations that have
demonstrated serious contempt for fairness and
integrity.
We welcome your
input at all times, but are unable to use anonymous
submissions. Canadian sport is improving thanks to
the initiative of many dedicated individuals and
organizations who are committed to changing the
"status quo". Together, we can make a
difference.

From a
federal report published by the current
Secretary of State (Amateur Sport) in May
2000. The full report is available on his
website: The
Honorable Denis Coderre
"There is
an urgent need for policy reform within
the amateur sport community in Canada. Due
to a lack of fair and consistent policies,
or to the improper administration of those
policies, athletes and other participants
in sport are being disciplined, harassed
and denied opportunities without proper
recourse to a hearing or appeal."
"These
problems are widely acknowledged within
the amateur sport community in Canada.
They stem primarily from systemic
difficulties and not the intentions of the
thousands of Canadians whose volunteer and
professional efforts constitute the
administrative foundation of Canadian
amateur sport"
"Like all
Canadians, athletes and coaches are
guaranteed the right to "due process" or
"natural justice" in the treatment they
receive from the organizations in which
they are members. However, these rights
are periodically ignored, even
violated."
